Publication of short report on data centers (second study)
The short report of the project "Data centers in Switzerland - electricity consumption and efficiency potential" is now available online.
The study estimates electricity consumption in Swiss data centers and server rooms in 2024 at under 2.1 TWh, which corresponds to approximately 3.6% of total electricity consumption. Compared to 2019, electricity consumption has increased by around 17%. Despite many efficiency measures already implemented, significant efficiency potential of 37% remains.
TEP Energy and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts carried out the work on behalf of EnergieSchweiz of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy.
