85th LCA Forum - Electricity in buildings LCA, conference report published

With reference to the ongoing Swiss research project "Net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the building sector", Martin Jakob discussed a number of methodological issues relating to the assessment of GHG emissions directly or indirectly attributable to the building sector: Click on title to learn more.

The allocation of GHG emissions from the use of electricity raises the following questions, among others:

(1) Should allocation be based on certificates of origin or on physical or commercial cross-border flows of electricity? (2) Which trade balance model should be used? (3) Should the future development of the electricity mix be taken into account or not? (4) Should average effects or marginal effects be used?

Initial answers to these questions are provided in the interim methodology report of the project "Net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in the building sector"
