Publication of final report on data centers
The final report of the project "Data centers in Switzerland - electricity consumption and efficiency potential" is now available online.
The study estimates electricity consumption in Swiss data centers and server rooms in 2019 at over 2000 GWh or around 3.6% of the total Swiss electricity consumption. Despite many already implemented efficiency measures, a significant efficiency potential remains.
TEP Energy and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts carried out the work on behalf of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy.
