Energy Law Report for the Canton of Basel-Landschaft

The Department for Environmental Protection and Energy (AUE) of the canton of Basel-Landschaft evaluates in 2020 for the first time the goals and implementations derived from the canton's energy law. TEP Energy is pleased to have been given the opportunity to conduct this analysis. At the same time, the goals of the canton's energy law can be analysed and adjusted if necessary.

One of said goals is the reduction of the non-renewable heating energy demand to an average of 40 kWh per square meter and year by 2050. However, no standardized methodology has yet been defined for the evaluation of the non-renewable heating energy demand. Therefore, we will support the AUE by pursuing the following objectives:

  • Development of a methodology for the periodical measurement and reporting of the indicator "non-renewable heating demand"
  • Evaluation of the existing energetic and climate policy measures in regards to their potential for revision and actions

Our newly developed calculation method for the derivation and updating of the indicator "non-renewable heating demand" should allow the Statistical Office of the canton Basel-Landschaft to do these calculations on their own on a biannual basis.
